Same here.  I've never been a huge fan of theirs - I can listen to them in the background but if I try to sit and actually listen to an album my attention wanders really quickly. The songs that I've heard from the new album are bordering on awful.

Parent - - By insistor (needs a bigger dick) Date 2016-10-18 8:58 AM
I like that a ton too. I haven't spent as much time with it as I would like yet but I can already tell I'll really enjoy it. I had forgotten that he just went through that whole rape accusation thing
Parent - By The Beard (is wearing Arm Panties) [us] Date 2016-10-18 9:12 AM
Yeah, that was a real mess.

The accuser recanted her statements about what happened, saying that they were made to get attention.

Sadly, it's the (false) accusations that will stick and Oberst will always have to live with the "Is he a rapist?" fog.

False claims like this also do a huge disservice to actual sexual assault victims.

Love Janis Joplin.

You don't have to move south to listen to bluegrass.  Tons of bluegrass here in Colorado with a bunch of festivals in the spring, summer, and fall (and some in the winter).
Parent - By LDR (100 Mile Stud) [us] Date 2016-10-12 7:40 AM
Moving south would be for Ms. LDR's desire to be closer to our kids.  The bluegrass would be a bonus blessing...

I haven't bought new music in a while (except goofy Nicki Minaj stuff that makes me laugh when I'm running), but today I bought the song Hollow Talk from a band called Choir of Young Believers.  The song played over the opening credits of The Bridge, a Swiss (or Danish?) TV show we've been hooked on.  (There's an American version, but this one is better, I think.)  It's haunting and beautiful, and I may get more of their stuff.

My fav songs these days have been
1) Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
2) George Michael but not his popular hits
3) quite a bit of Tom Petty...for no damn reason

Previewing Conor Oberst's Salutations.
http://www.npr.org/2017/03/09/519083661/first-listen-conor-oberst-salutations

I LOVE Ruminations and was very excited to hear that all of those songs would be on this album with a few new ones tossed in.

Salutations is EXCELLENT. I like that it's not trying to reinvent Ruminations. It's the same but different. Equally good.

Conor Oberst is a God and anyone (say, someone in Cincinnati) that says otherwise is an idiot.

I really like Salutations but have to say that I think most of the songs worked better in their stripped down form on Ruminations.

The producer (or whoever) sums it up best at the end; "and that's how you fuckin do it"

This is very well done and super cool to see, plus I really like HAIM

We're in Vancouver, BC tonight for a U2 concert. Mumford & Sons is opening...I'm not a huge fan of either but DH is and I love to travel and eat, drink and be merry so I agreed to fly up for this show. We'll be here through Monday!

Mumford & Sons SUCK.

I'd like to visit Vancouver though.

Ignore the Beard.  Mumford & Sons are awesome, though I've heard they've changed their sound for the newest album, so maybe they aren't awesome anymore.  Regardless, ignore the Beard anyway. : pbbt:

My son picked the music during today's drive. Top 40 stations the whole way. I think I heard the same five songs about ten times each.:cry:

Me too. It sounds very real, for lack of a better term.

I first saw this band last year in Minneapolis (hollah!) at Festival Palomino and immediately liked them. The singer is also very funny, talked and joked with the crowd a lot throughout the set.

Shooter Jennings - "Fourth of July"

There used to a great video of this on YouTube, but BMG made them take it down, or so I've heard.  I found a copy by reading through the YouTube comments of another video.  Apparently I wasn't the only person who missed it.

I've fallen in love with Ty Segall. Garage rock at its best. Tons of material that is consistently good.
