Thinking about my Uncles Joe and Marion, both who served in the Air Force. As well as my 2nd cousin Ed who served in the Army and fell victim to an IED.
Yesterday, our pastor spoke a great sermon on the idea that best way to remember the fallen is to help build a world where no more need to fall. But to start by building the kind of nation that it is an honor to fall for.
2.7 miles run in 36:18
And I ran the whole way.
I am down with that suggestion. totally.
I agree with your pastor. If you have the sermon, will you share with us.
Hooray - you ran the whole distance! You are making a comeback!
Finished a 5k - 27:38. Hanging around the finish for a bit. 400+ people today so I won't be "placing by default" as I have been doing lately.
I'm back home. I started this race a little too fast for my level of fitness. First mile was 8:22. I was hoping more for a 9:00 pace. Usually I am pretty good at judging pace but with 428 runners I got caught up in the moment. I used mile 2 to catch my breath with a 9:29, then back on my desired pace for mile 3 with an 8:57. Last .1 was :52.
27:39, 8:55 pace, best 5k so far this year by 6 seconds.

Very nice race compared to all the boring out & back 5k's I have been running. This was in Ironton Ohio, about 35 minutes from home. The starting line was at a factory facility. Lots of parking and the use of the indoor restroom facilities. The first half of the race was a loop through town, then the second half was a loop through a pretty good size cemetery. Everything in the cemetery was decorated with flowers and flags. That is a big deal around here on Memorial Day. My in-laws spend a few days going to multiple cemeteries to bring flowers. And it isn't just for people who died in the service (which I know is the real meaning of Memorial Day.)
For the drive home, I called up Google Maps on my phone, checked the box to avoid interstate highways, and had a nice scenic, twisting, hilly drive home through the country side. It took 50 minutes instead of 35 but it was a nice drive on a beautiful sunny morning.
Congratulations Dave! Your drive back some sounds wonderful.

We're going to the lake next weekend and I'm trying to pack only healthy food. God help me.
Nice and cloudy and humid here. Just returned from a great PW with my friend. Our goal was 15/mm or less and we did 14:55! 3.68 PW miles done!
Now I need to get ready to go to my brother's for a BBQ.
Remembering all those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.

I'm going to be feeling this tomorrow. Jelly quads.
I've got to pick up food again. Can't seem to get my grocery shopping on track. Brats on the Weber with my famous potato salad will round out the day.
why o why do we not live next to each other???
I get jelly quads after 2 miles in my hood
You just need to know how to report the ride.
"I had a great ride! my air speed hit 31 mph!"

I ran on my favorite trails this morning. It was a little muddy, but that's not a complaint. Never had an exact planned distance when I started but just to run. I ended up with 17.12 miles.
Mostly been lazing around today. Read a little and took a short nap. Makayla had to work. Melissa cleaned house. I guess that makes
me a bum.
sorry I'm throwing all that love at ya, finger went crazy
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY, TO ONE AND ALL!
