Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there.

Back home and finally have this back up to date.  If anything doesn't look right, don't hesitate to lob insults in my direction.

If we collectively have a good day on Father's Day, we will have run far enough this year to circle the globe.

26.8.  As I run 3X weekly, I'm pretty maxed out with this.

54 uninspired and icky miles.  This body doesn't acclimatize.  It just gets worse from here on until November.

Mickeyd - 100.5.  As we were under ozone action days most of the week (I have asthma), I was on the treadmill for a massive amount of miles. But my DVR is pretty much cleared now.

Very nice!!!  Especially considering the necessity for the treadmill.

Thanks!  Had I not gotten a couple of blisters, it could have been more.  Regardless, it felt good to post a decent weekly number again.  It had been a while...
Parent - - By Mickeyd Date 2017-06-21 10:50 AM
I think you more than made up for a few low weeks.   What race were you at?  Just guessing one of those 24/48 hour events?
Parent - - By LDR (100 Mile Stud) [us] Date 2017-06-21 2:51 PM
It was actually a six-day, but I only ran four, and I ran those at a very casual pace.  The event was a small, private affair: The Little Endurance Runs in Greenville, OH
Parent - By Mickeyd Date 2017-06-21 3:10 PM
That's awesome.  I did a 10 hour one and have so much respect for everyone that keeps moving for so long, no matter the pace.  10 hours was enough to scare me away from even 24 hours.

Xtreme Taper, 65

Sorry team, DNF at Mohican100 for me. First ever DNF, so I was definitely due and had plenty of warning signs it was coming. I am still digesting it all but it was a combination of mental, physical, and environmental factors. Mental though for the most part. No need for condolences. It's just running, right?!
Parent - - By LDR (100 Mile Stud) [us] Date 2017-06-19 9:46 AM
No condolences...
but...

one of the best runners I've known personally was there this weekend,
his 14th.
the heat and chafing nearly took him out.
vomiting, collapsing into poison ivy,
and other things he won't talk about on Facebook...
Parent - - By Xtreme Taper Date 2017-06-19 10:56 AM
Wow yeah, I saw lots of folks struggling, including the marathon runners who started at 12 noon! Crazy time to start this weekend. My quit point was mental and just a lack of interest in continuing running through endless switchbacks of trail. I felt at the end of loop2 like I did at the end of loop3 last year. I could have pushed another loop, but I did not foresee a bounce back and any relief at night.
Parent - - By LDR (100 Mile Stud) [us] Date 2017-06-19 2:38 PM
Were there any changes in the course from last year?
Parent - - By Xtreme Taper Date 2017-06-20 7:33 AM
A few minor things. They cut out the section to Little Lyon Falls with the root climb. Sort of a bummer as that was fun. Instead we switch-backed up a huge hill to the trail to the Pleasant Lake dam. We still ran into the chasm and Big Lyon Falls for a nice dousing from the trickling waterfall.

Also, the end of the loop was modified so we did not have to run by the gas station and businesses near the bike path into the park. Instead the course twisted through additional parts of the Mohican Adventures campground, around a little pond, along dusty dirt roads, until depositing us on the bike path just before re-entering the state park. I think this was additional distance in the last section, but we lost a little bit with the Little Lyon Falls bypass.

I ran Mo six years in a row.  Every year there were new modifications.  Glad to hear the tradition continues.
