Happy 5th of July. I trust everyone had a good 4th and is still in one piece.
How was your holiday?
What's up for today?

Howdy.

7.5 miles. Last day of the block training. Off tomorrow. Lack of sun made this morning run a wee bit better.

Morgan is going to lunch with her Aunt and I"m taking Josh bowling.
Parent - By oncearunner [us] Date 2017-07-05 11:44 AM
Good job on the 7.5 miles.

I hear you on the sun.  I was cleaning the dining room shutters and boy could I feel the sun.   Taking a break now and then will do my workout video.  If I don't get out by 7:30 it is just too darn hot to exercise outside.

Hey it's Hump Day!  The weekend is almost here!

Yesterday I ran "4 on the 4th" and today I ran 5 on the 5th.  A humid run at the local park.

Lunch with the octogenarians was good.  I'll be that old soon (if I make it) so it is good to get some exposure and see what I have to look forward to.  I like to get some of the old guys talking about what they did in the past.  I was at a table where a guy retired from a coal processing facility that was at one time the largest in the country.  Coal used to have multiple grades for multiple purposes.  Now apparently it is all crushed to the same consistency.

Cindy's mom is having a lot of problems lately.  She has Parkinson's disease but it seems like the medication to control the shaking is causing it's own issues.  They are going to get her into the doctor this week if possible.

Today I am back at work. Same old thing.  It was July of 1981 (36 years ago) when I got my first programming job about a month after graduating from college.  Programming has been good to me.   (For the most part anyway except for the occasional bouts of stress and anxiety.)

thinking about Cindy's Mom.
Parent - By oncearunner [us] Date 2017-07-05 11:41 AM
So are you going to run 6 tomorrow?

Hope they figure the medications for Cindy's Mom.

Hoping Cindy's mom gets her meds fixed. Those tremors can be so distressing.

We had a relaxed and fun 4 day weekend. Shot off a bunch of fireworks yesterday in the backyard. Didn't burn or blow up anyone. And didn't get arrested.

The Monster Mash Marathon is either 16, 18 or 69 weeks away. Ran 11.49 this morning. 4 miles easy on a meandering route to the HS track, 12x1/4 mile at 5k pace (6:36) with 1/4 mile jog recovery, 1.49 mile cool down jog home.

Not sure what germ invaded my body the last couple days but invade it did.  I have been awake 4 of the last 48 hours.  Kind of missed the whole holiday.....

I feel about 80% normal today.  So that is a good start on the road to recovery.  Hanging out in the A/C with a book.  I feel kind of lazy but that's all I've got.
Parent - By Kymoose [us] Date 2017-07-05 11:26 AM
 The rotten germ bug.  Keep resting and hope you are feeling 100% soon!

It was low key in my neighborhood last night.  I think the neighbors fired all of their fireworks over the weekend.  There were about three areas of fireworks booms I could hear, but far enough away I couldn't see much.  Makayla was watching fireworks at her boyfriend's house with his family.

Tonight we are beginning a children's program at the church.  I volunteered to lead the whole thing.  Hopefully some kids from last weeks VBS will show up.

Ran 10 this morning.

A work day. Felt a little beat up but not bad.

Work days are shorter now, was able to cut some afternoon time off, so now I usually get home around 4 instead of 8! A big improvement!!
Parent - By oncearunner [us] Date 2017-07-05 8:35 PM
Yea for shorter hours!
Parent - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-06 5:24 AM
