So, what's happening for you today?
Parent - By LDR (100 Mile Stud) [us] Date 2017-07-08 10:28 AM
Got up early, watched the end of F1 practice, took Layla for a walk at the reservoir before they opened, then came home to watch F1 qualifying.
Just finished a 6-mi run, my first of the week.  8:34/mi avg.  We've got a beautiful day here: sunny, low 70s, light breeze, low humidity.

Cut up a portion of a pine tree that was knocked down during a storm, mowed the lawn and went on a 21 mile bike ride.

Nice!!!  How did your chain saw handle the pine sap?

It worked well. They weren't massive limbs in terms of thickness but a hand saw would have taken forever. I borrowed a friend's electric chainsaw.

Jenny and I got up at 4am, thanks to one of the four-footed jerks, had a cup of coffee and took said jerks out for a run on the trail before the rattlers start sunbathing. Both dogs reaffirmed their jerkness by chasing and killing 5-6 field mice that were minding their own business a little too slowly. It's a great game to the jerks, mice tossing and mice crunching. I turned around at 2 miles because Rosie's still a pup, while Jenny went on up Diablo. 94F right now. Ran all the way back looking at the little carcasses littering the trail. There were other jerks out this morning.

Julie comes back from camp today. We haven't seen her since the Bronze Age.

I have to figure out something for Quinn's car situation.

I'm thinking of giving Umstead a whirl and discovered I need to run a qualifier. It feels weird that I have to do that deliberately rather than just pick something out of my previous year's results, but I don't have anything more recent than November 1, 2014. I feel like a has-been.

If you get in Umstead I can provide free lodging. I live 15-20 minutes from the park. :grin:

Oooh, you may regret that offer! : pbbt:

We'll find out in September. I have to try to get in while Jenny is in the middle of Wasatch 100. I'm hoping I can get a signal!

:grin: I'll be pulling for you! And I will not regret the offer.

I registered for Uwharrie 100 the other day and was stoked to be able to list Western States as my qualifying run.

Umstead needs a qualifier? :shocker!::shocker!::shocker!:

And yet Leadville never has (at least as recently as a few years ago.) A 50 mile finish, or the ability to assure the RD that I know what I'm getting myself into. I could probably manage the latter, but I don't like leaving anything to chance like that. I'll have all of 30 seconds to push the buttons, I don't want to leave anything hanging.

Ooooh I was thinking about the 50 at Umstead :shocker!: im afraid to register for something so far in advance tho, not knowing if my kids will have something big and important going on.
