Good Morning gang.

Post what you got!

QOTD: What's for dinner? Anyone have a good recipe they like to share?
Parent - - By pamruns [us] Date 2017-07-11 6:55 AM
Good morning!

One mile this morning! Mostly walking and I waited until a little too late to get out there. I'm still not supposed to be in the sun for a couple of weeks and it was pretty sunny on my route. I thought I could have done at least another 0.5, but after getting to the top of the hill close to my house, I realized 1.0 was quite enough for today!

Not sure what's for dinner tonight. Ray took me and Conor out for Mexican last night to celebrate the end of my radiation (and all of the other treatments!) and on top of that-he surprised me with tickets to see Paul McCartney on Thursday night! One of his friends at work gave them to him and they are great seats! Yeah, I know Sir Paul is getting up there in age-but then so am I!! LOL!
Parent - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-11 7:14 AM
that's awesome. all of it. I can't wait to hear how Thurs goes.
Parent - - By dnaff [us] Date 2017-07-11 7:25 AM
If I had a bucket list, Sir Paul would be on it.

7.5 miles. cut a wee short to get the boy to camp.  I ran 6 miles at MP and burn 311 calories. :shocker!::shocker!: 7 miles=300 calories???? :wtf:

meet a new neighbor out there. she is from my neck of the woods. when we realized we were from the same area. she hugged me. twice. I think I threw up in my own mouth. I was a disgusting mess of sweat and pee pee.

dinner: fish tonight. flounder with veggies.
Parent - - By OldAndInTheWay Date 2017-07-11 7:18 AM
that 300 calories sounds low, how you calculating that?
we had fish last night. Rockfish, caught Sunday in the Bay
Parent - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-11 7:33 AM

wee and pee pee all in one post.   Sure you don't have toddlers in the house?  "flounder" always  makes me think of Animal House.

and so the story I've told before but always worth a laugh:   Fat Drunk and Stupid was the team name for my husbands 3 on 3 basketball team.   Abbreviated FDS on the bracket boards.  So yes, they came to be known as feminine deoderant spray.:shocker!::laugh:

Hi,   I'm from your neighborhood.   Hug......blaaaaaeeekcch.

Remind me not to hug you when I see you again.   And the puke carries 400 cals.  So add that to 300 = 700 sounds about right.

right.  off to purge!!!

Parent - - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-11 7:35 AM

I'm surprised you aren't shopping the Prime specials today. Supposedly there is a Garmin Fenix but I am unable to locate it on the prime deals pages :mutmad: I just want to know if it's the 5.
Parent - By OldAndInTheWay Date 2017-07-11 8:13 AM
browsed the deals for awhile this morning. nothing caught my eye. we have too much crap here anyway
Parent - - By OldAndInTheWay Date 2017-07-11 8:20 AM
this says the Fenix 3 is on sale today
Parent - - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-11 9:47 AM
I have the 3. I hate hate hate it. so confusing. not user friendly
Parent - - By OldAndInTheWay Date 2017-07-11 11:17 AM
i have the Garmin 310XT cheapish but works for me. around $115
Parent - - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-11 11:51 AM
that's what I have. I have a refurbished one off of ebay for 50 bucks.

I do not want the 3. I actually want the 935. It's the same as the fenix 5 but plastic. My 910 has been having weird issues for awhile now and I don't think it's going to work for IMMD. I don't want to spend the money but I'm probably going to have to.

good morning Karen, Pam, and Rob.   and the rest of you late sleepers.

the coffee's good. the dog is walked.  I need to mow.  Yoga later.   Stumbled upon a yoga just for psoas.  I don't need it but Karen, didn't you have a wonky psoas?   I need to get my hamstrings stretching better.

Sorry, pizza for dinner.  My husband did some food shopping last night and that was the best he could come up with.  He bought 2 kinds of crust:wtf:  I make my own.  And he got an 8oz pkg of mozarella.  Seriously, I buy the 3 pounder and use most of it.:shocker!:  oh well, it might turn out to be something we like.

Google chicken in brown ale sauce by America's Test Kitchen.  It's one of my yummy-and-not-altogether-unhealthy stand bys.   And you get to drink the other half of the beer.
Parent - - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-11 7:39 AM
throw some parmesan cheese on that bad boy. that's how I take my pizza up a notch.

let me know some of the key poses you do in class. I do try to "work" my Psoas.  I believe it helps my back. last night I had to get out of bed to roll my legs. I think tight hammies are hurting my back. I did that and felt better. I need to be more aware.
Parent - - By ironjen Date 2017-07-11 7:52 AM
I do the same with the cheese. Mozzarella, Parmesan and a little cheddar.
Parent - By oncearunner [us] Date 2017-07-11 7:55 AM
I haven't had breakfast yet, you people are making me hungry!
Parent - - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-11 9:47 AM
next time cheddar
Parent - - By ironjen Date 2017-07-11 12:21 PM
Cheddar gets the least amount, usually just enough to add some flavor maybe 1/4c and parm gets about 1/2  where I use one of those 2 c packs of mozz.
Parent - - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-11 12:24 PM
me too! two packs of mozz and about a cup of parm. it gives it a smokey taste. I also sprinkle with basil and oregano.
Parent - - By ironjen Date 2017-07-11 12:53 PM
oooh I'm going to try the basil an oregano. Do you use fresh or dried?
Parent - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-11 3:46 PM
I used dried. it's what i have on hand but fresh would be better
Parent - - By dnaff [us] Date 2017-07-11 1:37 PM
because that (basil and oregano) makes it pretty.
Parent - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-11 3:46 PM

Speaking of getting to drink the rest of the beer you're cooking with...

Ever tried these cookies? Black Butte Porter Cookies
They are so soft and delicious!
I have never put the walnuts in though, and I use white whole wheat flour. OMG I want some now.:laugh:
Parent - - By dnaff [us] Date 2017-07-11 7:06 PM
sounds wonderful.  I'll have to go to the store that sells single beers though - it would take me forever to get through 6 of those.   thanks for the recipe!!
Parent - - By ironjen Date 2017-07-12 4:48 AM
I have that same issue here. I'd have to go to a bar that sells take out to get one beer. At least now I can go to a beer distributor and get a 6 pack, not that I would do that since we don't drink beer but still.
Parent - - By Blueberry Sky Date 2017-07-12 5:25 AM
I'm not a big beer drinker by any means, but I do enjoy a good Porter, so sooner or later, I can get through a 6 pack. It does take the better part of a year.

Some breweries are selling 4 packs now, which is better. The Porter just needs the strong coffee/chocolate flavor, likely any good brewery will work!
Parent - By oncearunner [us] Date 2017-07-12 6:35 AM
Oh my those look good.  I may have to try and bake them.  I think I can get the beer here.
Parent - - By Dave59 [us] Date 2017-07-12 6:41 AM
Michigan knows how to do beer.  Most stores have a cooler of singles and you can buy one or mix and match your own 6-pack.  Moving to WV was like going back to prohibition days.
Parent - By dnaff [us] Date 2017-07-12 7:18 AM
my thoughts exactly.  I know Lisa has this beer at the farmers market in Lansing.  I just emailed her the recipe and told her she should bake these for her favorite mom.
Parent - - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-12 11:07 AM
wegmans , anyone? they have beer by the bottle.
Parent - By oncearunner [us] Date 2017-07-12 11:16 AM
I like Wegmans - wish we had some here.
Parent - - By ironjen Date 2017-07-12 2:17 PM
Did the law change here in PA to allow singles at groceries? I thought it was only 6 packs.
Parent - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-13 3:33 AM
yes, last year
Parent - - By Grey Beard Tom [us] Date 2017-07-11 9:07 AM
Happy 7-11 to you.  I started really late today.  King Buddy could not wait up for me to lick the sweat.  I think he's bedded down for most of the day now. Feet still giving me fits but that's better than playing footsie with Fitz.

Dinner:   An assortment of leftovers.   Somehow I think it's fix whatever you want.

I'm at the office today. I hope I have the willpower to stop at the gym on the way home.

My "new" laptop doesn't have a CD/DVD drive and so for the past year and a half I have been thinking of getting an external USB one.  I used Prime Day as my motivation and got one for $19.

How can we keep coming up with new needs on our claim system?  It's been around for over 30 years.  My list of things to do jumped up yesterday.  Oh well, I'll just keep adding to it until it dies..... or our country moves to a single payer health care and I lose my job.

On gym days it is either leftovers or if there are none (which I know there aren't) I stop at a grocery store and get something from the deli section.  They usually have a good selection of hot foods.
Parent - - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-11 11:53 AM
I still can't justify the prime membership fee. walmart has really been competitive.
Parent - - By ironjen Date 2017-07-11 12:23 PM
We can. Just for the sheer volume of movies/tv and books that we buy. It's a bit embarrassing. I've started buying other things on autoship (like coffee). I should add my nuun tablets but I don't think that can be an autoship item : pbbt:
Parent - - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-11 12:47 PM
thats great. I hardly ever use amazon.  I know you hate walmart but walmart online is really good.

Hola!

Did my trails solo this morning and was so disappointed.  Part of the trail was vandalized with graffiti.  The city workers were busy cleaning it.  Why do people do that?

Came home and had lunch and I do need to make a few phone calls.  Meeting my husband's nephew and family for dinner.

I just purchased 2  Old Navy dresses online.  The prices were pretty darn good.  I hope I like them.  If not, I'll have to return.

Oh the meal serving at the monastery was enjoyable.  And the silence did not start till 7:00 so we could talk while we worked and ate.  There were 15 sisters in attendance. They were so grateful for our help as was their regular cook.  She did not have to stay past her normal workday.  The joy that one receives from serving others is indescribable.  Thankful that I was able to assist.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Had a nice swim. Getting used to the wetsuit although it's not as confining as it seemed st first. I discovered I can get on my back and rest and backstroke at the same time. I have a swim clinic on Sunday. Still babying the knee. It feels a bit better.

We have ribs in the oven. I made potato salad. And carrot cake mini cupcakes with cc frosting. Yum. I'll have to stuff myself into the wetsuit tomorrow.
Parent - By runnergeel [us] Date 2017-07-11 3:47 PM
that's good news.
Parent - - By oncearunner [us] Date 2017-07-11 3:48 PM
I think the wetsuit would feel very confining.  Hope the knee continues to improve.  How cold is the water?
Parent - - By DottieO Date 2017-07-11 3:59 PM
At the bell buoy right off the island it's measure 1 meter below the surface and it's 55 degrees. In the Cove where I swim it's 61 degrees. The tri is open water and will be an out and back starting roughly at 60 degrees and going down to 55 degrees and then back to 60 degrees as we head in. I'm actually quite comfortable. I wear the suit and boogies/socks.
Parent - - By ironjen Date 2017-07-12 4:52 AM
Check with the RD of the tri to make sure wearing the boogies/sock will be allowed if you plan on using them in the race. Sometimes extra stuff like that is not.
Parent - - By DottieO Date 2017-07-12 5:22 AM
Booties allowed. No gloves. They follow USAT rules. Mine are like a sock. Thin, but they have grippies on the bottom which I like.
